DIY Green Tea Toner for Acne and Skin Inflammations

Have you ever used green tea on your face? In this blog post you will learn how to make a DIY green tea toner for acne and skin inflammations.

Green tea has antibacterial properties which can help clear up your pores, leading to clearer skin and fewer breakouts. It’s also a great way to soothe irritated skin and reduce redness, too! If you’re looking for an all-natural solution that won’t irritate sensitive skin or dry out your complexion, give this a try. You’ll find yourself with a brighter complexion in no time!

What Can Green Tea Do For You?

Catechins are substances found in green tea. These phytochemicals (or polyphenols) are plant-based and have anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and antioxidant properties. They also fight free radicals.

Green tea is rich in epigallocatechin galate (EGCG), a phytophenol that research has shown can improve oily skin and acne.

EGCG has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and antimicrobial qualities. It also lowers lipid levels, is anti-androgenic and reduces sebum (oil) excretion in the skin.

The Camellia sinensis leaf is used to make green tea. This plant also produces white and black teas.

Loose tea is usually of higher quality than tea bags. There are many high-quality brands of green tea bags that you can try. You can choose to drink loose or bagged green teas made from certified organic teas. These teas won’t contain pesticides, chemicals or other additives.

DIY Green Tea Toner

Here is a simple way to make homemade facial toner. Using green tea on your face can be used to soothe inflammation of the skin and tone your complexion.

  • 1/2 cup Boiling Water
  • 3 Organic Green Tea Bags
  • 4 oz Spray Bottles

Directions: Add the green tea bags to the boiling water and steep for 5 minutes, remove the bags and allow to cool completely. Pour into spray bottle using a funnel. To use, spritz onto face after washing and allow mist to air dry. Soak any large blemishes with a cotton pad that has had the green tea applied to it for a few minutes.

Optional Green Tea Acne Ice

Instead of spray bottle, pour the tea into an ice cube tray. To use, wrap a piece of ice in gauze or tissue and place on inflamed facial blemishes.

Tips to Combat Stress Breakouts

It’s no secret that physical and mental stress can cause acne breakouts. But, did you know it can also lead to other skin issues like eczema and psoriasis? If you’re feeling stressed out and your skin is breaking out in a rash of pimples, there are some things you can do.

Here are a few ways to combat stress and prevent acne:

  • Good nights sleep
  • Healthy diet
  • Physical activity
  • Aromatherapy
  • Meditation
  • Gratitude
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Keep your hands off your face

You can also use ice packs to calm down any breakout, simply put a piece of ice in a baggie and hold it to the pimple for a few minutes. Do this a few times per day until the redness, pain and inflammation improve.

To fight acne it takes persistence and sticking to a routine so you can put your best face forward.
